BENEFITS OF MANUKA HONEY

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand. It is produced by bees that pollinate the native Manuka bush. This Manuka Bush is widespread throughout New Zealand though it only flowers at limited times of the year.
It has long been used in both traditional and modern medicine for its natural antibacterial properties. In addition to containing hydrogen peroxide, it is high in the antibacterial methylglyoxal (MG). Manuka honey contains up to 100 times more MG than normal honey.
There are a number of bacteria and viruses that MG has proven to kill when tested in a lab environment:
Manuka honey works extremely well for blemished skin because of its natural antibacterial properties mentioned above.
It is also a potent anti-inflammatory, thereby soothing inflamed skin while healing skin blemishes. It will also help balance the skin’s pH and contains amino acids which slough away dead skin cells, helping to keep pores clear.
MG has been shown to increase collagen cross-linking, which promotes the structural growth of collagen in skin cells.
Healthy collagen means healthy, firm, youthful-looking skin.
In addition, Manuka honey is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the skin. This hydration helps to further enhance the skin’s elasticity and cell regeneration, as well as promote healing.
